DONALD PAUL STORM Obituary
STORM
DONALD PAUL
Age 75, of Sebastopol, CA, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed into the arms of Our Lord on March 4, 2013. Don was born in Hastings-on-Hudson, NY and grew up in Chalfant Borough near Pittsburgh, PA. He graduated from Turtle Creek HS in 1955 and served in the US Air Force, with tours of duty in NY, PA, MI, and Libya in Radar Control and Early Warning from 1955-1959 followed by Air Force reserve service. He earned his BS in Electrical Engineering at Penn State University in 1963 and worked as a civilian for the Air Force in CA and for companies in CO, NM and CA as a manager in quality engineering. He also had an interest in real estate and was co-owner and manager of a motel for a time and after retirement purchased, repaired and sold used cars as a hobby. Don settled in Sebastopol where he met his beloved wife, Bridget Breese and resided for many years. Don had a great love of the outdoors and enjoyed hiking, walking, feeding the birds that visited his back yard, singing, yoga and xi-gong, watching the ocean at the Sonoma coastline, bicycling, and tennis. He had a deep faith in God and abiding love and concern for family and for others throughout his life. Don fought a courageous battle with non-Hodgkins lymphoma since 1989, using alternative treatments. Despite his illness he reached out to comfort, encourage, and support others struggling with cancer and other life problems, and people would come to his home and call him at all hours for his support. When Don could no longer participate in tennis and hiking, he started a table tennis group at his home and also played in town. He joined the Community Church of Sebastopol where he made many friends. He enjoyed quiet times with Bridget and his family. We are thankful that Don was able to spend a joyous Christmas 2012 at a family reunion in Florida. Don was predeceased by his parents, Paul Storm and Elizabeth Suich Storm; and his stepmother, Pearl P. Storm. He is survived by his loving wife, Bridget Breese; his sons, Stephen Paul Storm (Shari) of Rohnert Park, CA, Bob Storm and Tim Storm of ID; his daughter, Kris Gibson (Bill) of MO; stepson, Hugh Kent of WA; and stepdaughter, Dana Kent of CA; granddaughters, Katie McTaggart (Rick) and Taylor Storm; and sister, Phyllis Smoyer (John) of DE; stepsister, Evelyn Duffy of FL; stepbrothers, Bob Pickett (Jan) of MI and Bill Pickett (Sharon) of FL as well as a host of nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and friends across the USA. A Memorial Service for Don will be held at Community Church of Sebastopol, 1000 Gravenstein Hwy. N., on Friday, Mar. 22 from 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at St. Sebastian Church, 7983 Covert Ln. in Sebastopol on Sat., Mar. 23 at 11 a.m. followed by interment at Pleasant Hills Memorial Park, 1700 Pleasant Hill Rd., Sebastopol, CA 95472. Family and friends are invited also to attend a celebration of life at a luncheon at Community Church of Sebastopol immediately following. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Don to the Audubon Society, PO Box 1911, Santa Rosa, CA 95402. Condolences may be sent to
