FRANK H. , Jr.
Age 85, of Ross Township, on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Born in Pittsburgh, PA on March 2, 1929, son of the late Frank H. and Violet K. (Lintner) Kohne; father of Scott D. (Maureen) Kohne, Gretchen L. (Craig) Matthews, Heidi L. (Michelle) Kohne, and Christopher D. (Lori) Kohne; grandfather of Keane (Courtney), Katlyn, Jack and Connor Kohne; brother of Wilma Murphy and Mable Hull; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Frank achieved the rank of Lieutenant J.G. in the United States Navy, serving on the USS Newport News throughout the Korean War. During his working career, he was president and chief executive officer of the Mellon Bank Community Development Corporation. Frank served as Ross Township Commissioner for 16 years. While acting in this capacity, he became instrumental in development of the Ross/West View Emergency Medical Service, contributed to the creation of the Northland Public Library and helped with the procurement of the land that is now Ross Twp. Community Park. He was a graduate of Washington & Jefferson College, the Graduate School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and the National Commercial Lending School at the University of Oklahoma. Frank was a devoted father. His family has many fond memories of spending weekends and summers at their cottage in Conneaut Lake, where they enjoyed fishing, swimming, boating, and water skiing. Frank was very active throughout life and loved to golf, garden, and go running "to think things through". Family will welcome friends Wednesday from 2-8 p.m. at the SCHELLHAAS FUNERAL HOME, INC., 388 Center Avenue, West View, PA 15229, where service will be held on Thursday at 11:00 a.m., Rev John B.
