GEORGE THOMAS, Jr.
Born July 19, 1945 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away December 27, 2013, after a short battle with cancer. He received a BA and an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh. After a successful career in banking in Pittsburgh, he moved to Houston in 1981, where he continued to work in the banking and mortgage industries, lately as president of American Mortgage Solutions. He was active in The Woodlands Chamber of Commerce, The Woodlands 4th of July Parade Committee and the Kiwanis, through which he loved being involved with the Special Olympics. He was a Republican Precinct Chairman and President of the Grogan's Mill Village Association. He enjoyed travel and was a patron of the Houston Symphony and the Museum of Fine Arts, and was an avid Pitt Panther and Steelers fan. He is survived by his wife, Amy; brother, Carl; and sister-in-law, Christy of Highland Park, NJ; nephews, Ross of Austin and Evan of Maine; and stepchildren, Harlan Scott and Andrea Turnipseed of Austin. In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests with gratitude that donations may be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in memory of George.
