JAMES W. "JIM"
Of Washington, formerly of Crafton, passed away peacefully, at the Washington Hospital, on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at the age of 82. Mr. Duffy was born June 20, 1932, in Canonsburg, the son of the late Hugh and Marian Rose Duffy. Following four years of service in the U.S. Navy, he graduated from Duquesne University and entered a career in Pharmaceutical sales with Lederle, followed by surgical product sales with the 3M Company. Mr. Duffy was a 15- year volunteer at Radio Information Services in Pittsburgh where he read books and local news on air. A parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Washington, Mr. Duffy also served as a lector for many years. On June 7, 1958, he married Sarah "Sally" McMahon at St. Philip Catholic Church in Crafton, who survives. Also surviving are their four children, Jim Duffy, Jr. of Venetia, Laura (John) Holsinger of Springfield, VA, Kathy (Tom) Kehner of Marietta, GA, and Dan Duffy (Karl Casey) of Pittsburgh. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Stephen (Kristen) Kehner, Emily Kehner, Brian Kehner and Jack Holsinger. He was most proud of his family and enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren. Mr. Duffy was the oldest of seven children. Also surviving are his siblings, Hugh (Pat) Duffy, Linda Duffy, Rosemary (Dorothy) Duffy and Dan (Patty) Duffy. Mr. Duffy was preceded in death by not only his parents but by two siblings and their spouses, Kevin and Cookie Duffy, and Ginny and Bob Schantz. Friends will be received on Friday, August 1, 2014, from 2 -4 and 7-9 p.m. in the WARCO - FALVO FUNERAL HOME, INC., Wilson at E. Katherine Avenues, Washington, S. Timothy Warco, Supervisor/Director, Susan Falvo Warco, Director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A Prayer Service will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2014, in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church, with Rev. George Chortos, as celebrant. Interment will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, McMurray.
