Obituary Condolences

MAHAFFEY JOHN K. "JACK", Jr.
Age 95, passed away peacefully on Friday, Dec. 7, 2012 surrounded by family at Longwood at Oakmont. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Keith) Friday Mahaffey. Mr. Mahaffey was the beloved father of Margo (Jay) Troutman of Fox Chapel, Cam Mahaffey of Denver, CO, and Jacquelyn (Taffey) (George) Gall of Cincinnati, Ohio; he was the grandfather of Jay (Lisa) Troutman, Jr., Jeffrey (Lauren) Troutman, Tracy (Scott) Delaney, Cam (Erin) Troutman, Scott (Melissa) Troutman, Emily (Stephen) Garrison, James Troutman, Carrie (Brent) Gravlee, Lindsay (John) Kusak, and 19 great-grandchildren. Jack was a graduate of Peabody High School and Penn State University. He served in the Navy during WWII as skipper of a mine sweeper in the South Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart. After the war, he joined his father in operating Mahaffey Equipment Co. in O'Hara Twp. until it was sold in 1992. Jack was a Western PA Golf Championship Finalist in 1951. He was a member of Oakmont Country Club for 74 years and was also Oakmont's representative on the USGA Executive Committee (1975 - 1980). Friends and relatives are invited to attend a Memorial Service at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 14 at Christ Church Fox Chapel, 630 Squaw Run Road East. Memorial contributions may be made to Christ Church Fox Chapel or Presbyterian SeniorCare Foundation, 1215 Hulton Road, Oakmont, PA 15139.
