Obituary Condolences

John "Jack" Thomas McAllister, 82, passed away peacefully at home among family and friends on Sunday, February 3, 2013 in Nashville, TN. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Joseph and Ethel McAllister and was a member of Central Catholic High Class of 1948, Duquesne Univ. Class of 1952, and Harvard Business School Class of 1968. One of the few and the proud, Jack served his country as an officer in the United States Marine Corps and went on to serve in the National Guard. After serving in the military, Jack found success as a business executive and spent much of his life in Knoxville, TN. He resided most recently with his daughter in Nashville. In his spare time he enjoyed farming, music, following politics, cracking corny jokes, and was an avid nonfiction reader. Jack was extremely loving and proud of his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, M. Ann (McShane) McAllister; sons, John (Jack) T. McAllister, Jr. (Jill) of Knoxville, TN and James F. McAllister (Nancy Jane) of Guntersville, AL; daughters, Nancy McAllister Sheridan of Knoxville, TN, Janet C. McAllister (Tom Morris) of Manchester, CT, Marianne (McAllister) King of Nashville, TN, and Eileen A. McAllister of Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by 16 loving grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Jack will be buried with Military Honors on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. EST at the East Tennessee State Veteran's Cemetery, 2200 East Governor John Sevier Highway 168, Knoxville, TN. The family will also receive friends and family for a Memorial Mass and reception on Saturday, March 16, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. EST at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 414 West Vine Ave., Knoxville, Tennessee. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to United Cerebral Palsy at www.ucp.org.
