JOHN U. "JACK"
Of Cortland, Ohio, died peacefully in ICU at Trumbull Memorial Hospital, Warren, Ohio, on Wednesday, August 6, 2014. He was 75. Jack was born in Canonsburg, PA on December 28, 1938, to John Knox (Jack) Harriett and Jeannette (Pigford) Harriett. He grew up in Library, PA, and graduated from Snowden High School. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era at Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC and was honorably discharged in 1964. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, spending time with his family, and was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates/Pittsburgh Steelers fan. Along with his father, Jack was a 32nd Degree Mason and belonged to several area lodges. He leaves behind the love of his life and his best friend, his wife of 53 years, Judy (Jordan) Harriett; his daughter, Jeannette and husband, Tim Gilliland; son, Shawn and wife, Carla Harriett; grandchildren, Shawn and Sabrina Harriett; a sister, Betty (Matthew) McKee; and other loved ones. Jack was Baptist and liked to say he prayed to Jesus, "his forever friend". He was proud of his Irish heritage. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, and a loyal friend to many. Friends will be welcomed at LAUGHLIN MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 1008 Castle Shannon Blvd., Castle Shannon, SUNDAY 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Service in the funeral home chapel Monday morning at 11 o'clock. Interment Forest Lawn Gardens.
