Obituary Condolences

61, of Farmington, PA, died Friday, Jan. 11. Born in Uniontown, PA, he lived most of his life in Florida. He graduated from Lakeview High School in Winter Garden, FL, earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Florida, a master's degree from the University of North Dakota, and a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Florida, where he also did post-doctoral research in plasma physics and astrochemistry. He was an Army veteran of the Vietnam War, serving as a Green Beret in the U.S. Special Forces. He also worked on nine Space Shuttle missions at Kennedy Space Center, supervising engineering and technical support personnel and directing payload processing, integration, and testing activities inside the Space Shuttles. Always adventurous and curious, he had also been a licensed pilot, a skydiver, and a certified cave diving instructor at Ginnie Springs, FL, where he leaves many friends. He was a member of the Society of Amateur Radio Astronomers, for which he also gave lectures. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack W. Eyring. He is survived by his mother, Dolores J. Eyring, Farmington; and sister, Donna J. Eyring, Pittsburgh. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, followed by a service at 1 p.m. Monday at CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, PA. Burial will follow at the cemetery at Laurel Hill Presbyterian Church.
