MABON
THOMAS "TIM" McCANCE, Jr.
Died Friday morning, Aug. 9 at his home in Kennebunk, ME, surrounded by his daughters and family. He was born Oct. 28, 1926 in Pittsburgh, PA, son of Marjorie Arnold Mabon and Dr. Thomas McCance Mabon. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan Ingwersen Mabon; his four daughters, Mary Mabon Colonna of Pittsburgh, Margaret Mabon Hall of Rockville, MD, Nancy Mabon Hill of Portland, ME, and Janet Mabon Spiers of Wakefield, MA; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He joins his daughter, Elizabeth, who died May 2012. He graduated Shady Side Academy, served in the US Army, and graduated Princeton University, Class of 1948. His entire career was with the St. Louis-San Francisco Railway (Frisco Railway) which took him and his family to many locations: St. Louis, Kansas City, Ft. Smith, AR and Rockville, MD. He gathered and left good friends in all places he ventured. In 1982, Tim and Joan retired to live year-round in Maine, cementing his maternal family's long attachment to Kennebunk Beach. An active member of South Congregational Church, he enjoyed volunteering in a number of local service organizations: FISH, Meals on Wheels and as docent of Laudholm Farm. As an avid golfer and lifetime member of Webhannet Golf course, living on the 15th green afforded frequent opportunities for putting practice. A Memorial Service will be held at South Congregational Church, Kennebunkport on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 11:00 a.m., and reception will be held after the service at the Community House. Should friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Deacon's Fund at South Congregational Church, 2 North Street, Kennebunkport, ME 04046. Arrangements are in care of BIBBER MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 67 Summer Street, Kennebunk.

My family lived on Godwin Lane in St. Louis. I remember Mr. Mabon as being very nice and lots of fun as the father of one of my friends. We were sorry to hear of his death.
