Bill J. Anderson, 83, of Idaho Falls, died Thursday, Nov. 21, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in Idaho Falls.
He was born April 16, 1930, in Rigby to Ether Anderson and Eva Thomas Anderson. He was raised and attended schools in Rigby.
He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1950; he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged in 1952.
On Oct. 31, 1953, he married JoAnn Madison in Rigby; they were blessed with five children.
Bill worked as a shoe repairman at Becker's Repair Shop in Rigby, for Intermountain Gas, and as a taxi driver in Idaho Falls. From 1960 to 1990, he worked as a police officer for the Idaho Falls Police Department.
Bill was a member of the Eagles; he enjoyed bowling and participated in pro point and scratch bowling leagues. He also loved to fish, hunt and camp.
He is survived by his daughters, Christine An- derson of Melrose, Mont., Holly (Steve) Killian of Idaho Falls and Wendy (Jack) Wood of Surprise, Ariz.; sons, Thomas W. Anderson and Troy B. Anderson, both of Idaho Falls; sister, Donna Rumby of Kansas; brother, Dewain (JoAnn) Anderson of Idaho Falls; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn; a sister, Barbara Forsgren; and a brother, Dale Anderson.
A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, at Rigby Pioneer Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, at Eckersell Memorial Chapel, 101 W. Main St. in Rigby.
