Clair Baird Obituary

Clair Kirkman Baird, 89, of Blackfoot passed away Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, at his home.

He was born June 23, 1923, in Wapello, Idaho, to Ash Baird and Winni Fred Kirkman. He spent most of his early life in Firth where he attended school and graduated from Firth High School.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II; he was a military policeman in Europe and was part of the Special Escort Guard Unit.

He was a carpenter and drywall contractor in the Blackfoot area for many years. He worked for and retired from the Department of Interior.

He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, Bingham County Posse, Salmon Back Country Horseman, National Eight Ball Pool referee and competitor and Senior League Bowling. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, boating, riding his horses and spending time with his family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Janell Baird of Blackfoot; three daughters, Elyse Baird of Idaho Falls, Bobette (Ken) Weimer of Auburn, Wash., and Amy Reynolds of Tacoma, Wash.; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Sherl K. Baird.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 19, at Nalder Funeral Home, 110 W. Oak St., in Shelley. The family will meet with friends for one hour Monday prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Grove City Cemetery with military rites by Stewart Hoover Post No. 23.
