Herbert A. Dodge Obituary

On Monday, Jan. 13, 2014, Herbert Arden Dodge took the journey to be with his father in Heaven, where he can keep an eye on his entire family.

Herb was born Feb. 20, 1934, to Keith and Rachel Dodge of Ucon. Herb grew up in southern Idaho. He did a short stint in the U.S. Army as an MP serving in Korea at the end of the Korean War.

After returning home, he met the love of his life, Carol J. Hobbs of Idaho Falls. Herb and Carol were married July 16, 1960. They have seven children, Pam (Brian) Haynes of Fairfield, Mont., Frank (Whitney) Dodge of Pocatello, Colleen Dodge of Council, Idaho, Sharon (Paul) Burrows of Indianola, Iowa, Jennifer (Tim) Hansen of Boise, Gary (Jennifer) Dodge of Longmont, Colo., and Phillip (Darcy) Dodge of Berthoud, Colo.; 17 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Herb farmed for many years and was part owner in a trucking company hauling logs and ore. They then moved to Ely, Nev. Herb worked at the gold mines until retirement. Two years after retirement, they moved to Pocatello.

Herb enjoyed woodworking and being grandpa to not only his own grandkids but the neighborhood kids as well.

When you look in the dictionary under the word "love," it says refer to Herb Dodge. His love for his wife is beyond measure. This spills throughout his entire family.

Dad, we miss you and love you forever.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, at the Kinghorn LDS Chapel, 1700 Kinghorn Road in Pocatello. The family will receive friends at a viewing for one hour prior to services at the church.

Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.wilksfuneralhome.com.
