Miles R Allen, 79, longtime resident of Newdale, passed away Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at his home in Ammon.
Miles was born Dec. 26, 1934, at Rexburg, the son of Paul Lavier and Zola Loretta Rawlins Allen. He grew up in Newdale and graduated from Sugar-Salem High School. Following high school, he joined the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged.
He married Evelyn Hansen in l959; they were married 22 years and had three children before they were divorced.
He married Marva Rae Hull on Dec. 28, 1984, in Teton, Idaho. The marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. They made their home in the Teton-Newdale area where Mr. Allen farmed and ranched, moving to Ammon just over a year ago. They spent several winters in St. George, Utah, and Phoenix.
Miles enjoyed horses, riding, racing and visiting with people and going to auctions.
He is survived by his wife, Marva of Ammon; children, Rosemary (Kelly) Goodman of Gooding, Idaho, John Atwood of Blackfoot, Steven (Debbie) Allen of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Denton (Susan) Allen of Newdale, Idaho, Jo (Roy) Baker of Rexburg, Jerry (Lisa) Butler of Gooding and Jackie Ryan of Idaho Falls; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Donna (Jay) Coates of Moab, Utah.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Margo Brooks.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, in the Newdale LDS Church with Bishop Jason Grover officiating. Friends may call from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Bidwell Funeral Home, and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Teton-Newdale Cemetery, where military rites will be performed.
