Paul Alfred Mailhoit Obituary

Paul Alfred Mailhoit, 53, of Blackfoot, passed away peacefully in his home Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013.

He was born Sept. 1, 1960, in Framingham, Mass., to Henry and Joan Mailhoit.

After graduating from Willow Glen High School in 1979, Paul joined the Navy and was honorably discharged in 1982.

He married his wife of 29 years, Ruth Mailhoit (Lantier), in 1984 in Middletown, N.J. Paul had three daughters, Christina, Sarah and Sheila, and later adopted a son, Chase.

Paul worked as a mechanic from the time he left the Navy. Moving from Pennsylvania to Idaho in 1996, Paul began working for Western States Equipment. After seven years, he joined Idaho Material Handling, where he worked until 2011, when he began his final employment for Arnold Machinery.

He was an avid fisherman and a frustrated hunter. Paul enjoyed spending his spare time at McTucker Ponds with his closest friend, John. He treasured every moment spent with his kids and grandkids. He volunteered his time and expertise to anyone who needed a helping hand.

Paul was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather and friend. Everyone who had the opportunity to know him couldn't help but love his strong personality and sarcastic sense of humor.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Mailhoit; children, Christina Mailhoit (Tracey Skinner), Sarah (Robby) Taylor, Sheila M. (Curtis) VanOrden and Chase Mailhoit; mother, Joan Mailhoit; sister, Karen (Lonnie) Jones; and grandkids, Ayden Taylor, Conner Taylor, Karsyn Taylor and Masen Taylor.

He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Mailhoit; and brothers, Henry Mailhoit II, Stevie Mailhoit and Dave Mailhoit.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, at Hawker Funeral Home, 132 S. Shilling Ave. in Blackfoot. Family will meet with friends and relatives from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11, and Tuesday for one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
