Ralph A. Brown Obituary

Ralph Archibald Brown, 68, of Idaho Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 2, 2013, in Nevada at the Battle Mountain General Hospital.

He was born March 4, 1945, in Idaho Falls to Antone James Brown and Geneva Turner Brown. He attended school at Idaho Falls High School.

Ralph joined the U.S. Army and served for two years in Germany.

He married Dorothy Ball on Aug. 9, 1969. They were married for 43 wonderful years. They raised their family of four children and took in three other children as their own: Albert (Julie) Thompson, Thelma Thomas and Yvonne Lynn Hiaring. Ralph worked at Ball Fence Co., Idaho Livestock Auction, Farren Martin Farms and the Idaho Falls Foundry, and he retired from BMC West as a truck driver.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He enjoyed snowmobiling, camping, hunting, fishing, bowling and golfing, but most of all spending time with his family and taking little trips with the grandchildren. He also enjoyed going to coffee with his friends at North Hiway Cafe in Idaho Falls.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Idaho Falls; sons, Dennis (Shanon) Brown of Idaho Falls and Danny R. (Cindy) Brown of Battle Mountain, Nev.; daughters, Jody Lynn (Bobby) Smith of Nampa, Idaho, and Shantell (Greg) Barnes of Idaho Falls; brother, Tony H. Brown of Idaho Falls; sister, Phyllis Frailey of Idaho Falls; 20 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Antone and Geneva Brown, and one sister, Vera Brown.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 6, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave., with Bishop Tom Barker officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Saturday prior to services, both times at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ririe-Shelton Cemetery. Military rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Team.
