Robert Glenn Thompson Obituary

Robert Glenn Thompson, 63, of Idaho Falls, passed away Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center after a courageous battle with his health.

He was born May 4, 1950, in Great Falls, Mont., to Rao Glenn Thompson and Helen Weber Thompson. He attended Emerson and Hillview Schools and graduated from Bonneville High School.

Robert joined and served honorably in the Navy during the Vietnam War.

He married Nida Estomata Dec. 19, 1993, in Las Vegas, Nev. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Idaho Falls Temple on June 30, 2003.

Robert was a truck driver and received the Two Million Mile Award for truck driving accident-free.

He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; he held the office of High Priest and faithfully served in many callings, including Sunday School President, Gospel Doctrine Sunday School teacher and home teacher.

Robert loved to watch football and especially enjoyed watching his son, Ephraim, play football at Bonneville High School. Robert was a kind friend to all, never meeting a stranger. He especially loved his family and always kept in close contact with them. He could often be found listening to or studying his scriptures.

He is survived by his wife, Nida of Idaho Falls; son, Ephraim Thompson of Idaho Falls; daughters, Nerissa E. Thompson and Samantha Thompson, both of Idaho Falls; stepson, Arturo (Susan) Thompson of Minnesota; brother, Jim (Beth) Thompson of Winnemuca, Nev.; sisters, Lynn (Theron) Nelson and Carol (David) Snarr, both of Idaho Falls, Marsha (Gary) Walton of Shelley, Barbara (Kent) Aplanalp of Hurricane, Utah, Vicki (Curtis) Kawaguchi of Roy, Utah, and Wendy Thompson of Utah; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary; and stepmother, Erma Thompson.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 30, at Willowcreek LDS chapel, 6925 N. 15th East, with Bishop Jason Hales officiating. The family will visit with friends from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 29, at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge Ave. in Idaho Falls and from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. Monday prior to services at the church. Burial will be in Fielding Memorial Park Cemetery.
