Bruce W. Curtiss

Town of Fishkill - Bruce W. Curtiss, 88, a longtime area resident, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Elant at Fishkill in Beacon.

Born January 2, 1925 in Rotterdam, New York, he was the son of the late Edwin and May Noll Curtiss.

Bruce served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He later worked as a systems analyst for IBM Poughkeepsie for thirty five years, retiring in 1986.

He was a member of Hyde Park American Legion Post #1303.

Bruce loved taking photographs of family members, working outside and yearly vacations to Lake George. He was adored by his two granddaughters, Ashley and Daniella. He was their "Poppy" and will be greatly missed.

The family thanks the staff of Elant at Fishkill for all the wonderful care over the past three and a half years.

On July 15, 1962 he married the former Madeline T. Hackett. Mrs. Curtiss survives in Poughkeepsie.

He is also survived by his son, Tim Curtiss and wife, Suzanne, of Wappingers Falls; daughter, Margaret Curtiss of Poughkeepsie; granddaughters, Ashley and Daniella Curtiss; and brother, Edwin Curtiss of Philadelphia, PA.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Keith and Roger Curtiss.

Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm, Monday, July 1st at Sweet's Funeral Home, Inc., Rte. 9, Hyde Park.

The Hyde Park American Legion will conduct services at 7:30 pm during the calling hours.

His burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
