Poughkeepsie - Carolyn, "Corky" Fouhy passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on March 13, 2013. Born October 4, 1923 in Binghamton, NY to Paul and Mary Vanek, she was a graduate of Binghamton schools. Carolyn went on to work for Agfa Ansco Film in Binghamton where she met and eventually married Robert Fouhy on July 10, 1948. Shortly thereafter they moved to South Bend Indiana to work at the University Of Notre Dame. In 1956 they moved to Poughkeepsie where Carolyn began work in the Administrator's office at Vassar Brothers Hospital, retiring after 17 years. Carolyn was active for many years in the Dutchess County Women's Democratic Club serving as treasurer. She was an accomplished seamstress and loved to knit, making most of her own clothes, as well as clothes for many others, and loved to play bridge with and entertain her friends. Bob and Corky loved to travel and made numerous trips here and abroad. Carolyn is survived by her son Kevin and granddaughter Allison Bodden, great-grandson CJ Bodden, step-granddaughter Heather Browne; son Dennis, daughter-in-law Kathy and grandsons Ryan, Matthew and Christopher, a sister Willie Linsky, brother Paul Vanek, sisters and brother-in-law Irene Vanek, Barbara Fouhy and Ed Finley, numerous nieces and nephews and extended family Frank, Kristen and Linda Corliss. She was predeceased by her husband Robert in 2003 and her brother Alfred Vanek. In the early and later stages of her dementia, Corky was blessed with some of the best and most loving caregivers one could want. Along with the support of her family, close friends and Hospice, their care allowed her to stay in the home that she loved. Services are private and under the direction of the Timothy P.
