Poughkeepsie - Charles W. Gainey, 64, of Poughkeepsie died Friday, July 27, 2012 at home. Born on January 16, 1948 in Winchester, MA, he was the son of Charles W. and Betty Luther Gainey. Chuck earned as BS in Electrical Engineering and was a graduate of Purdue University. He married Carol Racich on August 29, 1969 in East Chicago, Indiana, and she survives him at home. Chuck worked for IBM for 42 years where he received many awards for his patents and he always found his work and achievements professionally fulfilling. He had great respect for his co-workers and developed friendships professionally throughout the years. Chuck was a member of the Ham Radio Club locally for many years. Technology was his professional love and personal satisfaction. He loved the black box technology. He was a loving, devoted husband and a dedicated father to his family and he will be greatly missed by his loved ones. In addition to his wife Carol, Chuck is survived by his son and his wife Matt and Deborah Gainey of Canton, NY, his daughter Sarah Gainey of Hyde Park, NY, his brother Mark A. Gainey of Largo, FL and his sister and her husband Janet and Thomas Burn of Stony Point, NY. Also surviving is his nephew Adam Burn of Washington State, his 3 grandchildren Emma, Matthew and Joey and many relatives in Staten Island, NY. Calling hours will be held on Friday, August 3, 2012 from 1:00 - 5:00pm at the William G. Miller & Son Funeral Home, Inc., 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2012 at 10:00am at Holy Trinity Church. Burial will be private and for Family only.
