PLEASANT VALLEY - Clifford F. Andrews, Jr., 75, former Supervisor of the Town of Pleasant Valley, passed away Saturday, May 10, 2014 at the Westchester Medical Center after a short, yet valiant battle with leukemia.

Born July 15, 1938 in Poughkeepsie, he was the son of the late Clifford Andrews, Sr. and Mary Lynk Andrews. A sheet metal worker by trade, he co-founded and owned Simmons Fabricating Service in Pleasant Valley.

His devotion to community service is well known. An Army veteran, he served the Town of Pleasant Valley for ten years in elected office as Councilman and Town Supervisor. He was President of the Pleasant Valley Jaycees and the Dutchess County Supervisor Association. He was Chairman of the town's Bicentennial Celebration and co-chair of the Poughkeepsie High School's Class of 1956 Reunion Committee. He served on the board of the Mid-Hudson Addiction Recovery Center (MARC) Foundation. He joined the Catholic Church in 1995 and was an active member of St. Stanislaus Church. Always a team player, he organized and participated in many golf leagues and charity tournaments, most recently serving as Secretary of the Valley Golf League.

On September 9, 1961 Cliff married his wife of 53 years, Josephine Popavero, who survives. In addition, he is survived by his daughter Michele Gorey and her husband George, son Rev. Eric Andrews, C.S.P., grandchildren Erica and Michael Gorey, brother Raymond Andrews and wife Laurel, stepmother Eleanor Andrews, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and countless friends.

Calling hours are Wednesday, May 14 from 5-8 pm at the Allen Funeral Home, 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 15 at 10 am at St. Stanislaus Church in Pleasant Valley. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Poughkeepsie.
