Poughkeepsie - George L. Lochner, age 79, of Poughkeepsie, died Wednesday August 13, 2014 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. George was born January 20, 1935 in Queens, NY. He is the son of the late Fred and the late Gertrude (Koop) Lochner. He married Marie Elena Magurno on April 2, 1998 in Niagara Falls New York.
George was a graduate of Arlington High and of Dutchess Community College. George served in the United States Navy. He was employed by Town Of Poughkeepsie as Town of Poughkeepsie Police Chief. During his time in the Town of Poughkeepsie George did police training at the FBI Academy. After his retirement with the town, George went on to work at Vassar College as the Head of Security.
George was a member of Town of Poughkeepsie PBA, Town of Poughkeepsie Lions Club, New York State Chiefs Association. George was a Amateur Magician, he like to garden, enjoyed to paint, liked to travel in his RV and like boating.
He is survived by his wife: Marie Elena(Magurno) Lochner of Poughkeepsie; daughter: Donna Marie Lochner of Albany, NY; daughter and son in-law, Cynthia and John Michelle Bertone of Patterson, NY; step daughter, Jodene Maria Panessa of Poughkeepsie, NY; step son, Joseph and Deanna Touhey of Staatsburg, NY; step son, Patrick and Sharon of San Tan Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Alexander And Lucas Bertone, Anthony, Nicholis and Danielle Panessa, Ryan, Jonathan Touhey, Adam, Joshua, Nicole and Jordan Touhey; brother and sister In-law, Frederick and Gail Lochner of Garden Grove, CA; brother and sister In-law, Roy and Ann of Roland Oaks, VA., and brother: David of VA. George was also survived by several nieces and nephews, many friends and his beloved Paco.
Calling hours will be held Monday August 18, 2014 from 4pm to 8pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home 371 Hooker Ave. Poughkeepsie, New York 12603
The funeral will be held 11am on Tuesday August 19, 2014, at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
