Harold C. Rogler

Hyde Park - Harold C. Rogler, 94, of Hyde Park, a lifelong area resident, died on Friday, December 20, 2013, peacefully at home with his family.

Born September 12, 1919 in Beacon, NY, he was the son of the late Herman and Nellie Ireland Rogler.

Harold served in World War II with the 8th Air Force in England and was awarded numerous medals for his dedicated service.

He worked for the Poughkeepsie Post Office for 33 years, retiring in 1982.

Harold was a member of the Hyde Park United Methodist Church.

Mr. Rogler was a Life-Member of the American Legion Lafayette Post #37, Poughkeepsie, Vail Wolff McKenna Frye VFW Post #170, Poughkeepsie, Retired Officers Association, and the Retired Federal Employees Association. He was also a member of Poughkeepsie Elk's Lodge #275, Poughkeepsie Moose Lodge #904, and AARP of Rhinebeck.

Harold loved dancing, traveling, listening to music and enjoying life to the fullest.

In 1946, Harold married the former Eleanor Houston. Mrs. Rogler predeceased him in 1968.

He is survived by his daughter, Jane E. Anderson of Hyde Park; son, Robert Rogler of Hyde Park; grandchildren, Marc Anderson and wife, Nancie, of Hyde Park, Stephen Anderson of Wappingers Falls, Daniel Anderson and girlfriend, Maria Castro of Hyde Park; great grandson, Bryan Anderson; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was predeceased by his brothers, Herman, Charles, Loren, Leonard, and Elisha Rogler; sisters, Elsie Taylor and Ellen Stewart; and longtime companion, Rose Szatko.

Also a special thank you to all the Hospice workers and their efforts.

There are no calling hours.

A Graveside Service and Military Honors will be on Friday, December 27th at 11 AM at the family plot in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, 342 South Ave, Poughkeepsie, NY.

Harold's family respectfully requests memorial donations to the Hospice Foundation, Inc., Memorial Gift Program, 374 Violet Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12601, or, the Hyde Park Free Library, 2 Main St., Hyde Park, NY 12538.
