John A. Emanuel

Fishkill - John A. Emanuel, 70, a resident of Fishkill for 45 years, passed away at home surrounded by his family after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born in the Bronx on January 2, 1942 and was the son of the late Edward and Lena Gazzola Emanuel. He attended school in the Bronx and graduated from the Wappingers Central School District.

He was a proud veteran of the US Army, serving during the Korean Conflict from 1960 - 1963. He married the former Bonnie Lopez of Wappingers Falls on November 19, 1960. Mrs. Emanuel survives at home, along with their precious granddaughter, Angie.

John was an active member of the New York State Carpenter's Union for 50 years, working with concrete structure and was carpentry foreman for large contractors. John enjoyed working with the Ciccone Construction Company family for many years before his retirement. He enjoyed power boating and owned his own boat and spent his summers boating with his family, pets and friends on the Hudson River, the New Jersey shores, Lake George and the St. Lawrence River. He also enjoyed restoring cars and helping anyone who needed help with their boats and cars. When anyone was in need of help, John was always available.

Besides his wife, Bonnie, and granddaughter, Angie, John is survived by his son, Ed; daughter, Kristin; his sister, Janet Landi and her sons, Matthew Landi, of Wappingers Falls and Peter Landi and his wife, Sula, of Albany; grand nephew and niece, Peter and Sophia of Albany; cousin, Robert Battoglia and his wife, Andrea, of Virginia and aunt, Norma Kleinert of Connecticut. John was also recently predeceased by his devoted friend, Joe Piscarelli of Fishkill and his soul partner and loving dog, Mondo.

Per John's wishes, there will be no calling hours and memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert H. Auchmoody Funeral Home, 1028 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.
