Richard L. Williams

Fishkill - Richard L. Williams, Retired City of Beacon Police Chief, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2014 at Gulfside Regional Hospice in New Port Richey, FL. He was 68.

Rich retired from the City of Beacon as Chief of Police in 1989. He served as a 50 year life member of Protection Engine Company, Fishkill, where he held the office of President. He was also a charter member and Past President of the Dutchess County Association of Chiefs of Police. He was also an U.S. Army Veteran and was honorably discharged as a Sergeant.

He enjoyed playing softball, and was first baseman for the Cervone Auto Body Team of the Beacon Men's Softball League.

Richard was predeceased by his parents, Francis "Teet" and Hazel (Shields) Williams.

He is survived by his wife Diana at home; his daughters, Laurie (Williams) Dora & her husband Wayne of Hardyston, NJ and Leigh Williams of New Port Richey, FL; his grandchildren, Zachery and Emily Dora; his brother, Donald Williams, Sr. and his wife Judy of Fishkill; several nieces, nephews, and many other loving relatives & friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the First Reformed Church of Fishkill, 1153 Main Street, Fishkill, with Pastor Gloria McCanna officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to Gulfside Regional Hospice, 6117 Trouble Creek Rd., New Port Richey, FL 34653, www.ghppc.org; or Fishkill Protection Engine Company, to benefit the F.T. Williams Memorial Fund, 1132 Main Street, Fishkill, NY 12524.
