Ronald J. Balga
HYDE PARK - Ronald J. Balga 69, a longtime resident of Hyde Park passed away on January 2, 2013 at Calvary Hospital in NYC. Most recent Mr. Balga was a Sales Manager for Mahogany Ridge North East Limosine in Lagrangeville. In the past he was a self employed auto mechanic. He specialized in Volkswagen and Porsche repairs.It was called Ron's Exxon. He also had a radiator and air conditioning Service business in Hazleton, PA called Ron's Radiator & Air Condition Service.
Ron was the first person in New York State to receive the state of New York Certified Mechanic Diploma.
He graduated from Poughkeepsie High School and graduated from White Plains Business School with a Retail and Business Management Diploma.
Ron was on the Board of Directors for the Greater Hazleton Jaycees in Hazleton PA in 1979. In 1980 he became President and in 1981 he became State Director. Between 1981 and 1984 he was a Committeeman for the Hazleton Republican Association in Hazleton, PA and in 1985 he became City Chairman. Between 1982 and 1986 he was the Treasurer and Chairman for Health Services Authority of Hazleton City located in Hazleton, PA.
He was a United States Navy Veteran, he received a bronze star and was honorably discharged. Ron was also a member of the Italian Center.
Ron was born in Poughkeepsie, NY on July 2, 1943. He was the son of the late Anthony and Anna Minnetto Balga.
On May 17, 1997 in Las Vegas Nevada he married Pamela J. Olive. Mrs. Balga survives at home in Hyde Park. Additional survivors include his children; Terri-Ann Sweet of Pleasant Valley, NY, Noel Czerwinski and her husband Roger of Red Lion PA, Kimberly Berry of Hyde Park,Dana Kleinhans of Poughkeepsie, and Deanne Sweet of Newbury SC, . He is also survived by his grandchildren; Cameron, Faith and Ryleigh Czerwinski and Bryanna, Danielle and Blake Sweet and a great granddaughter; Kida Sweet. He is also survived by a sister; Jean Kochanowski of Pleasant Valley, NY and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ron was predeceased by a son; Ronald J. Balga Jr. and a brother Alphonse Balga.
Calling hours are Monday January 7th from 4 to 8pm at the Michael Torsone Memorial Funeral Home, Inc. 218 Mill St. Poughkeepsie, NY 12601. Wheelchair entrance is located in the rear of funeral home, on Vassar St.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday January 8th 9:30am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Poughkeepsie.
Burial will follow in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice in Ronald's name.
