Stewart J. Rapache

POUGHKEEPSIE - Stewart J. Rapache, 78, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side on Saturday, June 21, 2014. Born on August 26, 1935, he was the son of the late John and Margaret Cappillino Rapache. Stewart served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean war as a Gunner's Mate First Class, from 1952 - 1956. He was a butcher for A&P Markets in both Kingston and Poughkeepsie, NY for 28 years and retired as a Security Officer for Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY in 2000 and was a member of the Firemen's Exempt in Poughkeepsie. His pastimes were fishing and camping, loved to smoke his cigars, was passionate about cooking, and he loved cars. He will also be remembered for being a "Die hard Yankees Fan" and most importantly as an "Awesome Dad" to his children. Stewart is survived by his son Wayne F. Rapache, Sr., of Poughkeepsie, NY and his daughter Schelly Mack and her husband Larry of North Port, FL.; he is predeceased by his daughter Lorri A. Scott who passed away in 1995. He is survived by his six grandchildren, Jeffrey B. Scott and his girlfriend Laura, Branden M. Dingee and his wife Ashley, Stewart W. Scott, Daniele M. Gosiewski and her husband Joseph, Brittany J. Scott and her boyfriend Cory, and Wayne F. Rapache, Jr. There are eight great-grandchildren who survive, Joey, Jr., Darion, Talia, Jadia, Kaylin, Jazmine, Carter, and Kellen as well as his niece Erika. Also surviving are three brothers, Gary Rapache and his wife Sherrill of Highland, NY, Davey Boyd of Arizona, Roger Boyd of Rochester, NY, and a sister Diane Callazo & her children Randy & Victor Callazo. Calling hours will be held on Sat., June 28, 2014 from 2PM - 6PM at the Wm. G. Miller & Son FH, Inc., 371 Hooker Ave., Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. A service will be conducted at 5:00PM during the calling hours in the funeral home followed by a Military Service. Entombment is at the convenience of the family.
