Tobia J. Secone

Ticonderoga - Tobia J. Secone, 90, of Ticonderoga, NY and Surfside Beach, SC passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2014, as a result of an automobile accident near his Eagle Lake residence. He was born August 20, 1923 in Schenectady, NY, the son of Michael and Bice (Dijiodina) Secone. He married Margaret (Peg) (Barber) Secone on November 21, 1953. Toby formerly lived in Poughkeepsie, NY where he owned and operated Toby's Tavern. He was known for serving up his famous chili dogs and cold mugs of beer. He worked at the Hudson River Psychiatric Center for more than 30 years. Toby served in the Civilian Conservation Corp from 1941-1942 then joined the Navy in 1942. He served in the North Africa Campaign, the invasion of Southern France and then in the Pacific after the end of World War II. He also served during the Korean War. He was a resident of Eagle Lake, Ticonderoga for more than 30 years where he enjoyed visiting with his family and friends, fishing, boating, and riding his tractor around his camp. He was a member of the American Legion of Poughkeepsie # 1466, the Ticonderoga Elks Lodge # 1494 and a Life Member of the V.F.W. of Poughkeepsie.

He is survived by his wife Margaret (Peg) Secone; a son, Michael Secone and his wife, Janis M. Lee of Canton, NY; a daughter, Toni and her husband Sandy Hadlick of Frederick, MD; 3 grandchildren, Christie Lee, Jada Secone and Camden Secone; 2 great-grandchildren, Annemarie and Emilee; a niece Dona Lansing and 3 nephews, John Secone, Roger Baxter and Randy Baxter. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law John and Phyllis Secone and a sister-in-law, Doris Baxter.

A Graveside Service with Military Honors will take place on Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the family plot of St. Mary's Parish Cemetery of Ticonderoga. A Reception will follow at the Ticonderoga Elks's Lodge. Arrangements are under the direction of the Wilcox & Regan Funeral Home of Ticonderoga.
