Red Hook - Vincenzo Cincotta, 97, a longtime Red Hook resident, passed away on Tuesday, May 1, 2012 at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck.
Born on October 25, 1914, in Italy, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Grace (Loscavio) Cincotta. Vincenzo immigrated to the United States in 1928.
Prior to entering the service in 1943 Vincenzo was the owner and operator of a grocery store in Brooklyn. As a member of the United States Army during World War II, he earned the distinction of two bronze stars. Following the war, he moved to Hudson Valley and began his long construction career as a member of Union Local #1000 out of Poughkeepsie.
He was a communicant of St. Christopher's Church in Red Hook and loved to garden.
Vincenzo married Grace Raffaele on January 4, 1953 in Italy and she resides at home in Red Hook.
In addition to his loving wife he is survived by the five children; Catena (Omar) Fugazot of Highland Mills, NY, Mary Ann (Jim) Kelly of Nutley, NJ, Gaetano "Tom" (Mary) Cincotta of Red Hook, Nancy (Kevin) Pollack of Blauvelt, NY, and Antonetta "Toni" (Brian Dykeman) Cincotta of Rhinebeck, eleven grandchildren, along with nieces, nephews and friends.
He was predeceased by a brother, John Cincotta, and two sisters, Marian Cincotta, and Grace Costa.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 4th, 2012 at St. Christopher's Church, Red Hook. Burial will be at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Red Hook.
Friends may call at the Burnett & White Funeral Homes on Thursday, May 3rd, 2012 from 2 - 4 & 7 - 9 PM.
