Nicoletti, Jr.

Millbrook - Joseph R. Nicoletti, Jr. of Millbrook, NY., died Saturday, July 27, 2013. He was 87.

The son of the late Joseph and Eleanor Jerowitz Nicoletti, he was born on April 7, 1926 in Brooklyn, NY. He served in the United States Navy during World War II, retiring from the Navy Reserves in 1986. Joseph worked as a heavy equipment mechanic at the Dutchess Quarry in Pleasant Valley, NY until his retirement in 1986 and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local #825 of Newark, NJ. Joseph was a dedicated community member. He volunteered at the Dutchess County Fair for 35 years, and served as a Director of the New York State Good Sam Club. Joseph is survived by his wife, Arleen M. Nicoletti; two daughters, Colette Tabor of Oceanport, NJ and Dr. Jean-Marie Cooper of Olney, MD; two sons, Lawrence Burtis of Phillipsburg, NJ. and Edward Burtis of Midland Park, NJ; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Jason Cooper; and sister, Eleanor Hayward of Red Bank, NJ. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 1st from 2 to 4pm, and 6 to 8pm at the Allen Funeral Home at 1605 Main Street, Pleasant Valley, NY. Funeral services will be held during the evening hours. Burial will take place at noon Friday, August 2nd at the Valleau Cemetery in Ridgewood, NJ.
