Binghamton: Andrew Chalachan, 91, fell asleep in the Lord Wednesday morning, November 27, 2012, at the NYS Veterans' Home in Oxford. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Bernice (Babicek) Chalachan, on May 15, 2010; and his beloved great-grandson, Jimmy Chalachan, on October 3, 1999; his parents, Michael and Anna Chalachan; and a brother, Peter Chalachan. He is survived by two sons, Robert Chalachan and his wife Rene of Binghamton and Gary Chalachan and his wife Diane of Pittston Twp., PA; two grandsons, Robert Chalachan Jr. of Binghamton and Thomas (Melanie) Chalachan of Pennfield, NY; three great-grandchildren, Jeremy, Andrew and Avarie Kate; two brothers, Michael Chalachan Jr. of Johnson City and Joseph Chalachan of Binghamton; and several nieces and nephews. He was a devoted member of St. Michael's Greek Catholic Church. He was a City of Binghamton Fireman retiring after 30 years of service. In keeping with Andy's final wishes, his funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. The family wishes to express their sincere appreciation to the doctors and staff at the NYS Veterans' Home in Oxford for their respectful and compassionate care.
