BYRON R. WORTHING

Owego, NY: Byron R. "Barney" Worthing, 92, of Owego, NY passed away at home on Thursday December 12, 2013. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jane (Catlin) Worthing; his three sons and daughters-in-law, John and Debra (Signs) Worthing, Douglas and Shelly (Woodburn) Worthing, Ray and Laurie (Arbes) Worthing; his grandchildren, Willie and Nicole Worthing, Sarah and Josh Ferguson, Benjamin and Rebecca Worthing, Mallory and Bill Gibson, Meredith and Steve Sagor, Byron Worthing, Hilary, Aubrey and Raven Worthing; his great grandchildren, John, Brady, Elizabeth, Hannah, Oliver, Sam, Connor and Gabe. He is also survived by two sisters, Marion (Dwayne) Rubenstein, Ruth (John) Baker; many nieces, nephews and their families. Barney was born on a dairy farm in East Rochester, NY and served in the United States Army during WWII. He worked 20 years for the Tioga County Soil Conservation Service and continued on as a supervisor for the Farmers Home Administration. Throughout his entire career though, he was most well known as a local cattle dealer. Barney had a lifetime love of baseball and softball, and always simply enjoyed going to work. In keeping with his wishes, private services will be held at the convenience of the family.
