Fassett, Charilyn Sergay

Vestal: Charilyn Sergay Fassett, 49, passed away February 14, 2013. Her sister Juliette and Deb, one of Charilyn's aides from Our Lady of Hope House, were by her side. Charilyn was born severely brain damaged yet lived a full life with the love of family and friends throughout. She spent her early years at The Camphill School of Curative Education and Social Therapy in Glenmoore, PA. She later became a resident of Our Lady of Hope House in Vestal, NY, where she lived for 22 years. She was active in Special Olympics and Achieve Day Habilitation program. Charilyn was well traveled; California, the Outerbanks of NC, the Jersey Shore and white water rafting down the Colorado River were among her many adventures. She loved to nap in the sunshine and she was known for her trademark snort laugh. She was a foodie, a flirt, a music lover and incorrigible prankster - her sparkling personality brought joy to many. Adored by her immediate family and her family at Our Lady of Hope House, she will be truly missed. She was predeceased by her father, Dr. Lloyd A Fassett. She is survived by her mother, Charlotte Fassett, and her mother's significant other; Charlie Sherwood, both of Johnson City; her sister, Juliette Fassett of Portland, Oregon and her brother, Lloyd Fassett of Bend, Oregon.
