CHARLES A.M. MARTEL SR.
77, of Great Bend, PA entered into rest on June 16, 2013 surrounded by his loving family. He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Jeannette. He is predeceased by his son, Daniel Martel, his parents, Charles A. M. and Margaret E. Martel, and a sister, Marie Martel. Charlie is also survived by sons, Charles A.M. Martel Jr. and Wendy, Steven Martel, and Dennis Martel and Kandi; three daughters, Debra and Craig Bartlett Sr., Karen and David Wdowiak, and Ilene and Jim Miller; 15 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a sister, Alice Beardsley and Jack; Charles Michael Martel; numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Charlie served with the United States Army. He worked for GAF for 17 years. Then he served the community as a police officer, retiring as the chief of police for Great Bend, Hallstead, and New Milford after 20 years. Charile was the Boy Scout Master for Troop 89 for 13 years. He also volunteered with the Great Bend/Hallstead Ambulance. Charlie was a semi professional magician. He enjoyed fishing and camping. A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, June 21, 2013 at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Friends may call Thursday from 1-3 and 6-8.
