Shager, Clarence E., Sr.

Binghamton: Clarence E. Shager Sr., 83 went with the Lord on Monday, March 25, 2013 at Wilson Memorial Hospital with his loving wife (Kay) of 59 years and children by his side. He was born in Uniondale, PA on June 7, 1929 to John and Daisy Shager. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Jack; sister Ruth Tighe; and brother-in-law Steve Durko. He is survived by his wife Catherine (Kay); son Clarence (Chuck) Jr.; daughter Cathie and son-in-law Ken Gardiner; grandchildren whom he loved very much, Patrick, Ashley, Katie Shager, Meghan (Joe) Dold, Caitlin and Kacy Gardiner; great grandson Caden Shager who was his pride and joy; and godparents Frank and Joan Sacco. His sisters Mabel and Tom Edge of Wilmington, NC, Beverly Durko of Uniondale, PA, Marlene and Ron Wallace of Forest City, PA; brother Phil and Lori Shager of Cortland, NY; sisters-in-law Pauline Shager of Uniondale, PA, Salina Lee of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; brother-in-law Basil Halupke of Binghamton, NY; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends whom he loved dearly. Clarence was a Korean War Veteran who serviced in the Army from 1951-1952. He retired from Cook Bros. after serving 34 years as a foreman and mechanic and was a member of the American Legion Post 1645. He also enjoyed going to his grandchildren's sporting events and Horse Shows. He was a good husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather; he will be sadly missed but his loving memories will be with us forever. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 1 from 4 to 7PM at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Paul's Church in Binghamton at 10AM on Tuesday, April 2. Burial will be in Mother of Sorrows Cemetery in Carbondale, PA on Wednesday at 11AM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Frank Lee Scholarship Fund, C/O Thomas Mancuso 1216 Tonwin St., Archbald, PA 18403. Clarence's family would like to thank all the staff of Wilson Memorial Hospital and Good Shepherd Fairview Home Rehabilitation for taking such wonderful care of him.
