Binghamton: Donald C. DeRose passed away peacefully, at the age of 86 on May 2, 2014, at Lourdes Hospital in his hometown of Binghamton, NY. Donald was born in 1927 and was a WWII veteran. After his military service, he returned to Binghamton and made his living as an Operator Engineer for Local 410. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church as well as an usher for their 7:30 a.m. masses for many years. He was a dedicated father who loved music, hunting, outdoor sports, and watching baseball and football. Donald was predeceased by his parents, James and Angelina DeRose; his brothers, Anthony (Tony) DeRose, William (Bill) DeRose, Albert (Duke) DeRose, and Vincent (Rusty) DeRose; and his sister, Marie DeRose. He is survived by his loving daughter, Dena DeRose; and his loving son, Darrin DeRose; his sisters, Jane and Mark Clark of Florida, Loretta Tanzini of Endwell, and Rita Harrison of Binghamton; his brother, Richard and Joyce DeRose; his sisters-in-law, Philomena (Phil) DeRose, and Joyce DeRose; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members. A funeral mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 9, 2014, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 37 Fayette St., Binghamton. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at James V. DeMarco & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson on Thursday, May 8, from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald's memory may be made to St. Mary of the Assumption Church.
