formerly of Vestal: Doris R. Bryant, 88, longtime resident of the Triple Cities, passed away on August 20, 2013 at her home on Segalla Court in Canaan, CT. Born October 20, 1924 in Sullivan, IN she was the daughter of Walter and Beulah McGuire Reeves. She was a graduate of Purdue University in Indiana where she earned her BS degree in Dietetics. Doris was a dedicated wife and mother. She married her husband, the late Francis E. Bryant on April 29, 1945 in West Lafayette, IN. In 1946 the couple moved to the Endicott and Vestal, NY area which is where they lived for almost 60 years, until 2005, when they moved to Connecticut to be closer to their daughter Terry. Following the death of her husband, their son John moved to Canaan, CT, to care for Mrs. Bryant for the rest of her life. While living in Vestal and once her children were grown, Mrs. Bryant went back to school where she earned her Master's degree in education from SUNY Cortland. She taught elementary school at the Vestal Central School System until retiring in 1981. For over 20 years in retirement, Doris and her husband delivered meals for Meals on Wheels. She also was a longtime volunteer at her church, Union Presbyterian Church in Endicott. She is survived by her daughter Teresa "Terry" Bryant Wise and her husband Jay of Stockbridge, MA, her son and longtime caregiver John T. Bryant of Canaan, CT, her son James "Jim" Bryant and his wife Linda Davis of Kilmarnock, VA, four grandchildren Maclain Reeves Bryant of Winston-Salem, NC, Peter T. Wise and his wife Sara Katzoff of Hudson, NY, Elizabeth "Betsy" Wise of Brooklyn, NY and Margot R. Wise and her husband Daniel Shaw of Seattle, WA, along with her niece Susan Hoke Wamsley and her nephews Steven and Walter Hoke and their families. She was predeceased by her husband Francis E. Bryant who died on May 9, 2007, as well as her sister Bessie Reeves Hoke. A service celebrating the life of the late Doris R. Bryant will be held Friday, September 20, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at the Union Presbyterian Church, 200 East Main Street, Endicott, NY. Donations in memory of the late Doris R.
