Cranston, Douglas

Johnson City: 77, died February 22, 2013 at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital. He was predeceased by his father and mother John and Helen Cranston, Infant Daughter Joanne Cranston, Brothers in law Warren Monroe and Bernard Mills. He is survived by his wife of 50 years Janice Cranston, daughter and son in law Ellen Cranston-Chrisler and Rick Chrisler, son and daughter in law Bruce Cranston and Lisa Nagle, sister Edith Mills, brothers and sisters in law Donald and Kathy Cranston and Russell and Judy Cranston, sister in law Bobbie Monroe, nieces and nephews Kyle, Kristen, Gavin, Todd, Tracey, Amy and Andrew and several cousins. He was a graduate of Walton High School in 1953 and then received his Associates Degree from Farmingdale Technical School in 1955. He was a veteran of the US Army where he served in Japan during the Korean War. He was employed by IBM for 36 years, retiring in 1991. He was an active member of the East Maine Fire Company for 28 years where he served as Fire Chief for 4 years. Doug's family would like to thank the doctors, nurses and staff of Lourdes Hospital ICU and Broome Oncology for their care and concern. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, February 26 at 5pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main St, Johnson City with Rev. David Seaver officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday from 3pm until the time of service. Burial will be in the spring in South Otselic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to East Maine Fire Company, East Maine Rd, Johnson City, NY 13790 or a .
