Edwin Douglas McDonell, a longtime resident of Indianapolis, IN died on Monday, April 22, at age 59. He was born in Johnson City, NY on August 16, 1953, the son of Alexander Edwin McDonell and Loretta Arlene (Terry) McDonell, both deceased. Ed grew up in Endwell, NY; Hyde Park, OH; and Mariemont, OH. He attended Mariemont High School and graduated from Athens High School, in Athens, GA. He was an information systems executive, consultant and writer, recognized by Who's Who in America. More recently, he managed rental properties that he owned, and worked as a salesperson at Lowe's. Ed received a BA in English Literature from the University of Cincinnati, 1976; an MSLS in Information Science from Case Western Reserve University, 1978; and an MBA in Management Information Systems from Indiana University, 1983. After a stint as a librarian, he worked as an Associate at Crowe Chizek & Co., CPAs, Indianapolis, 1983-88, and a Principal, 1989-92; Director of Office Automation for USA Group, Fishers, Indiana; consultant and writer 1995-2012. He was committee chairperson for the Financial Managers Society, Chicago, 1989-92; speaker, Lafferty Group Conferences, London, 1992-2000; writer, Trade Press Services, Thousand Oaks, California, 2000-present. Ed authored Creating a Customer-Driven Bank, 1991; Rebuilding the Retail Bank, 1992; Document Imaging Technology, 1993; and was a contributing editor of the Bank Administration Institute, Chicago, 1989-91. He also contributed articles to many professional journals. He was a member of the Institute Management Consultant (certified); Beta Gamma Sigma, and Sigma Iota Epsilon. He married Katherine A. Mandusic, August 18, 1979 (div. 1994), and Lizabeth L. Marks, 1998 (div. 2002). Ed is survived by his sister Cheryl Benedetti and brother-in-law Joseph Benedetti of Endicott, NY; his brother Clayton K. Lowe of Powell, OH; his brother Neil E. McDonell and sister-in-law Margaret Moline of White Plains, NY; and by many beloved nephews, nieces and cousins. Services will be held at Coleman & Daniels Funeral Home, 300 E. Main St., Endicott, NY on Wednesday, May 1, with viewing from 11:30-12:30, services at 12:30 and burial at the Riverhurst Cemetery in Endicott, NY, where his parents are buried.
