Snider, Frederick W., Jr.

Frederick W. Snider, Jr., 78, of Newark Valley, NY, died Monday, July 21, 2014, in Princeton, WV. Born on March 1, 1936 in Princeton, he was the son of the late Frederick Snider, Sr. and Thelma Neeley Snider. He received his Bachelor's Degree from Virginia Tech and attended UCLA for his Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering. He then attended SUNY Binghamton, NY, for his Master's Degree in Computer Science. He worked for IBM, then became a consultant across the US. He worked with wireless phones in the US and China. He designed and built the house he lived in for 37 years in NY. He liked cars, family genealogy and was a "jack-of-all-trades." In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Snider and one nephew, Russell George. Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Eileen Fryover Snider; five daughters, Heather (fiancé Michael Mingo) Snider of Pittsburgh, PA, Dr. Erica (Dr. Roulay) Thammavong of Franklin, OH, Rebecca Snider of Syracuse, NY, Phyllis (John) Kroeger of Phoenix, AZ, Sandra Michel of Raleigh, NC; one brother, David (Audrey) Snider of Burlington, NC; two sisters, Dorothy (Scott) Wilkerson of Princeton, WV and Lois Snider of Raleigh, NC; seven grandchildren and another expected soon, Noah, Max, Zuria and Isaiah Thammavong, Rachael, Claire and Lillian Kroeger; eight nieces, Deborah Minor, Melinda Hazelwood, Patricia Bouzigard, Wendy Snider, Amy Prime, Laurie Chiumento, Megan Bastian, Kristin Syracuse; four nephews, Cassidy Snider, Sean, Richard and Bret Fryover. A Memorial Service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014, at the Newark Valley First United Methodist Church with Rev. Timothy M. Middleton, Sr. officiating. The body has been cremated. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the memorial fund at the Newark Valley First United Methodist Church, 70 S. Main St., Newark Valley, NY 13811.
