Westerville, OH: George Bochnak, born in Scranton, PA and longtime resident of Hillcrest, died July 1, 2012, at the age of 95, at the Village at Westerville Assisted Living and Retirement Center, Westerville, OH. He retired from IBM Endicott after 29 years of service and was a member of Dormition of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church in Binghamton. George was a World War II Navy Veteran, serving in the South Atlantic and Okinawa. George is survived by his daughter, Barbara and her husband, Carl Billhardt of Westerville, OH; granddaughter, Lisa and her husband, Steven Shamrock and great-grandsons, Peter & Luke Shamrock of Naperville, IL; grandson, Gregory Billhardt and his wife, Melanie and great-granddaughter, GiGi Billhardt of Bellbrook, OH. He is also survived by many extended family members and special friends. He was predeceased by his wife of 60 years, Genevieve Latwinski Bochnak; and his sisters, Anna Salak of Waymart, PA and Margaret Holod, of Olyphant, PA. A funeral service will be held Monday, July 9, at 10 a.m. at Dormition of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church, 54 Baxter St., Binghamton with the Very Rev. Protopresbyter James Dutko officiating. Burial will follow at the Chenango Valley Cemetery, 120 Nowlan Rd., Hillcrest, Binghamton. Friends may call Sunday 3-6 p.m. at the Chopyak-Scheider Funeral Home, 326 Prospect St., Binghamton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be to either Broome County Meals on Wheels Program, 85 Walnut St., Binghamton, NY 13905 or to Dormition of the Virgin Mary Russian Orthodox Church Roof Fund.
