Johnson City: George Danko, 89, of Johnson City, passed away peacefully at Willow Point Nursing Home, after a short illness, on Monday February 4, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Mary & John Danko. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Lottie Danko, Johnson City; two sons and their spouses, John & Donna Danko, Binghamton and James & Deborah Danko of Elmira; two daughters and a spouse, Nancy Grant, Johnson City, and Carol & Gary Grant of Endicott; two brothers-in-law and a spouse, Joseph Gankiewicz, Johnson City and Edward & Euvil Gankiewicz of Tupper Lake, NY; one sister-in-law and spouse, Helen & Walter Savichky of Johnson City; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Marc & Michael Danko, Michele & Angelo Mastronardi, Jennifer & Micha Yonkoski, Desiree, Dylan & Jaime Danko, Angela & Kip Cerasaro and Brian Grant; four great grandchildren that he adored, Sydney & Braddock Yonkoski, Julia Mastronardi and Roman Cerasaro. George was a former member of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, now The Church of The Holy Trinity. He was a veteran of WWII, with the US Air Force in the Pacific, and witnessed the raising of the American flag on Iwo Jima, both times. George was a retired postal worker with 30 years of service. The family would like to thank the doctors & nursing staff at Willow Point Nursing Home, for their compassionate care. The family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at 9:00 a.m. at The Church of The Holy Trinity, 346 Prospect St. Binghamton, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in George's name to The Church of The Holy Trinity Building Fund, or St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. Arrangements and Supervision by:
