JOHN A. BATTISTI SR

100, of Hallstead, PA entered into rest on October 2, 2013. He was predeceased by his parents, Luigi and Elena Battisti and three younger brothers, Dominic, Julius, and Sandino Battisti. John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Catherine. John is also survived by two children, John "Jack" A. Battisti, Jr., Hallstead, PA and Ann and John Finamore, Cortland, NY; a sister-in-law, Joan Battisti; nieces and nephews, Louann and Michael Kilmer, Elaine and Doug Greenlief, and David and Renee Battisti; several great nieces and great nephews. John was a proud veteran, serving with the United States Army as a First Lieutenant Medic in World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #357 and the V.F.W. Post #6223. Early in John's career, he served as a hospital administrator for Barnes-Kasson Hospital. He retired from IBM in Endicott, where he was part of their Quarter Century Club. His faithful commitment to St. Lawrence Church played an important role in his life. He also served in many leadership capacities in the Knights of Columbus. John was a loving and devoted family man. He enjoyed life to the fullest and shared many humorous moments with family, friends, and neighbors. The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate and dignified care he received from Dr. Mateya, Dr. Stamato, Hospice of the Sacred Heart, Susquehanna Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, and to the many friends and neighbors for their support. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 5, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lawrence Church, Great Bend, PA and visitation at 10 a.m. at the Tuttle-Yeisley Funeral Home, Inc., Hallstead, PA. Interment will be made in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Should friends so desire, expressions of sympathy may take the form of a donation to St. Lawrence Church, the Revitalization Fund, P.O. Box 592, Great Bend, PA 18821 or Broome County Humane Society, 2 Jackson Street, Binghamton, NY 13903.
