Apalachin: John Francis O'Donnell passed away on Monday, November 26, 2012, at Lourdes Hospital, Binghamton, NY. He was born in Great Neck, NY on February 24, 1923, the son of the late Jeremiah and Ita (Ryan) O'Donnell. John was predeceased by his first wife, Doris H. Brandt; his two daughters, Diane O'Donnell and Janet Conley; his three brothers and his one sister. He is survived by his second wife, Mary (Monell) O'Donnell; his daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and John Graham III, Lois and Raymond Ingham; his stepdaughters, Rosemary Stevens, Melany and Stephen Giordani; his grandchildren, John Graham IV and his wife, Melissa, Christopher Graham, David Graham; also a dear friend of the family, Joan Kopytek, and her two daughters, Catherine and Laura; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Brandt; several nieces, nephews and cousins. John was a Veteran of WWII, serving as Corporal in the United States Army-Air Force. He was an electrical and mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Michigan in the class of 1950 and 1951. He joined IBM in 1951 as product development engineer, retiring in 1978 with several patents and disclosures to his credit. He moved to Tucson, AZ and worked at Bell Technical Operations for six years, before returning to work four more years in engineering at LRC Horseheads, NY, finally retiring in 1988. John "Jack" was past president of the Mello-Dears all-girl Drum and Bugle Corps, serving several years as bus driver, mechanic and instrument repair man. Go with God and rest in peace.
