John F. Sosenko, Jr., 89 of Johnson City passed away peacefully, Thursday, December 6, 2012 surrounded by his loved ones. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anna Sosenko; two sisters, Alice Welsby, and Theresa Rose Hawker-Platt; and a beloved grandson, David James Sosenko. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years, Virginia J. Sosenko, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Jack D. and Kathy Sosenko, Johnson City; a daughter and son-in-law, Ginna Lee and Roger Trendowski, Middletown, NJ; beloved grandchildren, Jackie and Rob Laman, Jr., Jody "Burger" Steen and Chris Joyce, Bill Sosenko, Justin Sosenko, Jennifer and Jeff Layton, Carissa and Larry Sommers, Lindsay and Jamie Nataro, 12 great grandchildren, Nicki, Mandi, Jenni, Dustin, Nathan, Harly, Halee, Alecia, Kiah, Charlotte, Leah, and Lexi, two great great grandchildren, Isabella, and Trinity; a special "grandson" Kevin Spickerman and his children Kaitlin, Mercedes and Austin David. Three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Margaret Osborne, Mary Jane and George Turock, Binghamton, Stella and Richard Trencansky, Johnson City; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Joseph Sosenko, Lawrenceville, GA, Paul and Fran Sosenko, Fulton, NY, Jim and Lorraine Sosenko, Fulton, NY, Pete Sosenko, Norman, Ok, also several nieces, nephews and cousins, including special cousins, Tom and Annette Sosenko. He was a member of St. James Church, Johnson City, he was a retired employee of IBM Corp. in Endicott, with 27 years of service and was a member of its Quarter Century Club. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army Air Corp in the 90th Service Group, 314th Bomb Wing in Guam. He was a member of VFW Post 2332 in Johnson City and was a member of American Legion Post 1305 in Binghamton. John made wind chimes and enjoyed sharing them with family and friends. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed sailing. He played piano and accordian, and played piano at the Willow Point Nursing Home every day. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. James Church, Johnson City, Tuesday at 9:30 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are by the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main Street, Johnson City.
