Luis, Lionel E., III

Johnson City: Lionel E. Luis, III, 72, of Johnson City, passed away Friday evening, November 8, 2013, at Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was predeceased by his parents, Lionel E. and Hazel A. Luis, Jr.; his brother, Richard F. Luis; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Harry and Lucy Abess. He is survived by his wife, Elayne Luis, Johnson City; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Michael and Averi Luis, Eric Luis and Lucciana Friedah; his grandson, Harper Mason Luis, all of Nevada; his sister, Lorrie D. Zembery, Owego; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Norman Abess, Ronald and Laurie Abess, Cicely Luis; also several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many dear friends, especially Sally, Vickie, and Diane for all of their support. Lionel served his country during the Korean conflict. He was a veteran of the US Army, a member of the American Legion Post #1700, the American Legion Riders New York Chapter, a Patriot Guard for fallen soldiers, an avid NASCAR fan, a member of the Southern Tier Harley Davidson HOG Club, and a retired produce manager with 37 years of service for the Grand Union food chain. The family wishes to thank the entire staff of Wilson Memorial Hospital and Binghamton General Hospital's Rehab Unit with a special thank you to Drs. Julia Miller, Michael Tunick, Khalid Sethi, and Arun Sheth for the wonderful care that was shown to Lionel this past year. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 14, 2013, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Ambrose Church, 203 Washington Ave., Endicott. The family will receive friends at the Leon Pucedo Funeral Home Inc., 1905 Watson Blvd., Endicott on Wednesday, November 13, 2013, from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Lionel may be made to A Room to Heal, PO Box 503, Vestal, NY 13851-0503 or to a .
