Millard, Robert E.

Robert E. Millard, of Binghamton, 72, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, November 18, 2012 and was received with open arms by his mother, Ruth Stanton. In addition to his mother, Robert was also predeceased by his father, Lewis Millard and his sister, Gloria Howell. Robert is survived by his Aunt, Ella Stanton of Conklin; sisters, Marlene & John Gleason and Kathleen & George Clauston all of Harpursville; brother, Ronald Millard of California; niece, several nieces and nephew including, Penny Benedict of Vestal, friend Florence Fowler and a very dear and special friend, Susan Kulesza, who was there for him and cared for him for 2 years. Robert's family would like to thank her for all she's done. Robert had a career in the United States Navy and retired as Boatswain Mate First Class, having served from December 27, 1957 until May 10, 1977. He received his Good Conduct, National Defense, Armed Forces Expeditionary, Combat Action, Viet Nam Campaign, Viet Nam Service and 3 Bronze Stars. "Golden Shellback". He was also an avid bowler and loved to watch football. Robert had a heart of gold and would always give a helping hand to those in need, he will truly be missed. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2012 at 11:00 AM at the Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango St., Port Dickinson, NY 13901. Burial will follow at the Chenango Valley Cemetery. Family and friends may stop at the funeral home on Sunday, November 25, 2012 from 5:00-7:00 PM.
