Surowka, Stanley C.

Binghamton: Stanley Charles Surowka, 79, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on March 17, 2013. He is predeceased by his parents, Frank and Helena (Frydryk) Surowka; sisters and brothers-in-law, Margaret and Gordon Nolan, Josephine Pocengal, Rose and Nels Strange, Anne and Paul Figura, and George Semo; brothers and sisters-in-law, Chester and Genevieve Surowka, Carl Surowka, Harry and Ann Surowka and John Surowka. He is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Mary (Telfer) Surowka; his children, Timothy Surowka of Binghamton, Thomas and Kathleen Surowka of Binghamton, Deborah Hart of West Palm Beach, Florida; grandson Alex Surowka, who was his pride and joy; sisters and brother-in-law Wanda Semo, Helen and William Mizera; brother Jim Surowka and Joann White; sister-in-law Mildred Figura; brother-in-law Thomas Pocengal; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Stanley was a Union Carpenter for Local 281 for over 50 years, most of that time with Edward L. Nezelek Construction; he was a Knights of Columbus 4th Degree Member and a past member of the Elks Lodge of Kirkwood. He enjoyed golf, bowling, and was an avid fan of the Yankees and the NY Giants. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather; and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 22, 2013 at the THOMAS J. SHEA FUNERAL HOME, INC. 137 Robinson St. Binghamton at 9:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass to follow at St. Paul's Church in Binghamton at 10 a.m. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Ladies of Charity Organization and or Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent dePaul.
