Thomas P. Kovacik
of Johnson City
Thomas P. Kovacik, 89, of Johnson City, went to be with the Lord Friday evening, July 24, 2009, at Willow Point Nursing Home. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Catherine Kovacik, Johnson City; one daughter, Renee Kozak, Berkshire, NY; two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Cindy Kovacik, Galesburg, IL, Alan and Kim Kovacik, Fairbanks, AK; 16 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Steve and Mary Kovacik, Robert and Annette Kovacik, all of Johnson City; several nieces and nephews. Thomas was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity, Binghamton. He was a veteran of WWI, serving in the US Army, and a retired employee of SUNY Binghamton. A heartfelt thank you to all the staff at Willow Point Nursing Home for the loving care given to Tom (Papa).
Funeral Services will be held at the J.F. Rice Funeral Home, Inc., 150 Main St., Johnson City, Wednesday at 11 a.m. Pastor Douglas Hill and Pastor James Willard will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. until the time of the services. In lieu of flowers, those wishing may make memorial contributions to the , 159 Court St., Binghamton, NY 13901 or the , Southern Tier Regional Office, Nichols Notch - 401 Hayes Ave., Endicott, NY 13760 in Thomas P. Kovacik's memory.
