Hanrahan, Thomas Patrick
Thomas Patrick Hanrahan, 90, went to be with his Lord Friday evening, November 15, 2013 at Wilson Memorial Hospital, Johnson City after a brief illness. Born July 5, 1923 in Gulf Summit, NY, he was the son of John and Leah (Van Dusen) Hanrahan. He leaves his wife of 67 years, Jessie Agnes (Baudendistel), at home in Deposit; one daughter Sarah M. (Hilton) Evans, Deposit, four grandchildren: Matthew T. (Elizabeth) Evans, Wurtsboro; Andrew B. (Danielle) Evans, Bronxville; Nathan A. and fiancée Ashley Willis, Aurora, Colorado, and Peter W. Evans and friend Rebecca Beavan of Deposit. Also three great-grandchildren: Simone and Danae Evans, Wurtsboro and Amelie Evans, Bronxville. He also leaves one sister, Rita Baudendistel of Gulf Summit and several nieces and nephews especially James Baudendistel, John (Carolyn) Baudendistel. Mary (Paul) Spencer, Catherine (Samuel) Falank, Ann Baudendistel Stanton, Michael (Linda) Baudendistel and Thomas (Nancy) Baudendistel. Also many grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a grandson Patrick H. Evans and a grand nephew Paul Spencer; also brothers: John Hanrahan, Edward Hanrahan, James Hanrahan, and Robert Hanrahan; sisters: Viola Gaffney, Mary Martin, Anna Bowie and Catherine Fitzgibbons. Mr. Hanrahan graduated from Deposit Central School. He was employed at the Eastman Kodak Company in Rochester for 35 years, returning to Deposit upon retirement in 1981. He was a decorated veteran of World War II, having landed at Normandy on D-Day plus 8. He fought in the Army in several European battles and was severely wounded in the Battle of Aachen. He was awarded numerous medals including the Purple Heart for injury in Germany; the Bronze Star for bravery. Mr. Hanrahan was a past Post Commander of the Deposit VFW from 1991-1994. He was a member of St. Joseph's Church in Deposit. The family will receive family and friends from 4 to 7 P.M. on Thursday, November 21 at the Zacharias Funeral Home, Deposit. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 22 at 1:00 P.M. at St. Joseph's Church, Second St., with the Reverend Gerald Buckley officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Joseph Parish Hall Building Fund in Mr. Hanrahan's memory.
