Dedrick, Wilfred Joseph

Endwell: Wilfred Joseph Dedrick passed away on Saturday August 23, 2014 at his home. He was born in Minnesota on March 6, 1924 to Gerhardt William and Nora Barbara Dedrick. The family lived on an 80 acre farm until he graduated from high school in 1941. He graduated from St. Thomas College in St Paul MN and from the University of Minnesota in 1943. He married Caroline and they celebrated 66 plus years of togetherness. He taught at the Minnesota School of Business and worked for the Jolly Green Giant, SBC and IBM before leaving MN for other endeavors. Settling in New York State he worked here 41 more years before retiring. He will be greatly missed by all. He was preceded in death by his son Jerry; parents; 2 brothers Kenneth and Lester; 4 sisters Edna, Ethel, Geraldine and Elvera. He is survived by his wife Caroline; 2 daughters and sons in law Patricia and Allan Collins, Annette and Kevin Rak; daughter in law Diane Dedrick; brother Ralph; sister in law and brother in law Phyllis and John Weir and many nieces and nephews. He loved reading, memorizing poetry, telling jokes and had an incredible sense of humor. He was a member of the Church of the Holy Family, Endwell. A Funeral Mass will be offered on Thursday at 10am at the Church of the Holy Family 3800 Phyllis Street Endwell. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 pm at the Barber Memorial Home, Inc., 428 Main Street Johnson City. In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in memory of Wilfred may be made to Mercy House of the Southern Tier (a home for the terminally ill), c/o Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis St., Endwell, NY 13760
